68 Animals Found Dead

68 Animals Dead VideoOn Monday, 4/7/08, the NJSPCA was called in to manage a large scale cruelty investigation in conjunction with the Barnegat Police Department. After a lengthy day and warrant process, a warrant was executed on the property. Ultimately 64 deceased animals in various stages of decomposition were discovered. A coordinated effort by NJSPCA Sgt. Tom Yanisko, Investigator Cooper, Agent Donato, and Sgt. Donoghue spearheaded the search, recovery, and documentation of the crime scene. John Bergmann and the Associated Humane Society Popcorn Park Staff were extremely instrumental in this investigation and recovery. Two suspects were identified in the process, a husband and wife, Mr. Matthew Teymant and Mrs. Amanda Teymant. Matthew Teymant was located and voluntarily came to the Barnegat PD for questioning. After a lengthy interrogation by the Barnegat Detective Unit and the NJSPCA, probably cause was determined to warrant indictable charges. Judge Phillip Miller who signed the search warrant later set bail on the two individuals for $25,000 each no Mr. Teymant was arrested and processed in Barnegat and transported to the Ocean County Jail by Detective Cirulli of the BTPD and Agent Larry Donato. Amanda Teymant was located and instructed to proceed to the Toms River PD where warrants were sent and she was arrested by the TRPD and processed. Mr. Teymant was employed by the Toms River PD as a dispatcher. I would like to thank the team that assembled at the location and worked in unsanitary, cold, rainy conditions until very late in the morning. The Barnegat Police department was extremely receptive to our involvement and provided incredible support and direction throughout the course of the day and into the night.
