Mr. John Evans pled guilty to cruelty

On March 28, 2008 Agent Kruce of the NJSPCA was dispatched to the home of Donna Evans on a complaint of improper care of a dog. She advised me that her dog Denver was having trouble getting to his feet, and a little thin up top. She claims he has not been to vet because she didn’t get paid yet. I issued a written warning and informed her that she needed to have her dog seen by a veterinarian.

I called Collingswood veterinarian and spoke to Dr Shultz. She said Denver came in March 28, 2008 and was brought in by John S Evans, and son. Denver presented a large abdomen, which was painful to the touch, was unable to stand, muscle wasting around spine, and severe dehydration. John stated symptoms started 3-4 days ago. He was vomiting, and eyes were rolling in back of head. She feels a possible abdomen tumor or cancer, and/or kidney failure. She explained dog needed x-rays and blood work. Owner opted with humane euthanized instead of treatment. Dr faxing copies of records. Because of passed history of this location of failing to provide water, I issued summons to both Donna & John Evans for improper sustenance & failure to provide proper water.

On April 23, 2008 Mr. John Evans pled guilty to 3 counts of cruelty and was fined $1000 plus $99 court costs. Also he is prohibited from owning pets for 5 years and was given 15 days community service plus must attend anger management classes.
