Mr. Diggs and Mr. Taylor both plead guilty of cruelty.
April 17, 2009
On 8 April 2009, Mr. Diggs and Mr. Taylor took their two pitbulls to the Burlington County Animal Shelter. At that time they were told the shelter was full and they were asked to check back in a couple of days to see if there was any space available. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Digs then drove approximately 2 miles from the shelter, opened the car door and let both dogs out and then drove away. Later that day, Mr. Wes Goodfellow from Animal Control was called to a location to pick up 2 dogs running at large. When the dogs were brought into the Shelter as strays, the shelter recognized them as the same dogs that Mr. Digs and Mr. Taylor attempted to surrender. Luckily once again the shelter had obtained a license plate number from the vehicle.
On April 17, 2009, in Westampton Municipal Court Mr. Darius Digs and Mr. Levi Taylor plead guilty to Abandonment of a living animal. Mr. Taylor was fined $500.00 and $100.00 restitution to the NJSPCA; Mr. Digs was fined $500.00 and $100.00 in restitution to the NJSPCA plus $218.00 to the BCAS in surrender fees.
